Introduction
Oct. 13th, 2014 01:32 pmIt was decent enough out to paint today, so Dylan took his things down to the boardwalk. It wasn't too busy so he pretty easily found a spot and settled down, neatly laying out his supplies. Dylan was probably wearing more layers than strictly necessary, but it gets cold down there this time of year if you aren't careful, and spend hours by the water like he does, obsessing over whether the water was more blue or green today before finally getting brush to canvas.
He painted for what he assumed was probably a couple of hours before his stomach told him it was time to eat, so he started to pack away his things to go in search of something delicious - or at the very least, warm.

Name: Dylan Argall
Age: 24
Species: Human
Background/history: Dylan was born to Jack and Sandra Argall - childhood sweethearts - in a small town in the south of England. But the marriage didn’t last. Jack and Sandra divorced when Dylan was 7, leaving Sandra to bring up Dylan - along with his older brother and sister - on her own. Dylan hasn’t seen his father since he turned up one day at his 9th birthday party.
When Dylan was 12 his mother got remarried to an American named Tom, meaning the whole family decided to up sticks and move to Siren Cove, where Tom lives. Dylan’s older brother, Liam, has since moved back to the UK, but his older sister Ciara still lives in Siren Cove with her boyfriend Aaron.
Tom and Sandra have twin 3 year olds called Imogen and Tyler, who Dylan adores.
Dylan briefly dated a nice but dull girl called Jennifer towards the end of high school, but in the end they decided they made more sense as just friends. Since then Dylan hasn’t had much luck in the world of romance - his complete inability to recognise when someone is flirting doesn't help with that.
Personality: Dylan tends to be quite quiet, preferring to listen and observe. He’s quite set in his ways and struggles with change. Despite having lived in Siren Cove for 12 years he still speaks with a clear, gentle, southern English accent. He has a mostly calm exterior but can get irritated and seething below the surface if he finds people annoying.
Although he tends to avoid conflict, he’ll unleash hell if you say a wrong word to or about one of his siblings. He adores his twin siblings, and has a very close relationship with his older sister. He’d like to be closer to his older brother, but they have very different personalities and his brother isn’t very reliable with contact.
Dylan can paint, but do not much else, at least according to him. His mum will tell you her sweet boy is brilliant at everything, while Dylan makes a face that reads “muuum, shut up”. School was hard for Dylan. As a younger child he was teased at school for being quiet and ginger. When they moved Dylan hoped school would be better, but it just brought new and slightly different challenges. Being the new kid is never easy, and certainly not for him. He was small until a growth spurt at around 17 and even now he’s not huge. He’s always been very skinny and he’s always walked slightly clunkily, like he hasn’t worked out how to fully use his joints yet. He was very glad when school finally came to an end, and is still pondering whether he ought to go to university or not.
Maine is a lot colder than Southern England and he’s still not used to it, so he’ll often be seen wearing a ridiculous number of layers. He doesn’t really miss England - though if you rifle through the cupboards at home you’ll find a jar of marmite, a packet of digestives and a big box of English Breakfast tea.
He’s happier by the water and spends most weekends wandering up and down the boardwalk, taking in the scenery, and occasionally sketching for a future painting.
Opinion on the rivalry: Dylan knows about the rivalry, and finds it interesting, but doesn't think it's true. But like ghost stories, not believing doesn’t necessarily make it less interesting to him.
Lifestyle: Dylan works at Siren Cove's Animal Shelter and lives with his sister Ciara and her boyfriend Aaron. Dylan has his own room and an en suite. His bedroom is obsessively tidy. They aren’t poor but they aren’t well off. They get by. Dylan often feels guilty about essentially living off his sister’s dollar, but Ciara is constantly reminding him that she’s happy he’s there.
Dylan and Aaron get along okay, but Dylan is happiest at home when Aaron goes out and him and Ciara get to hang out together, watching stupid TV shows and cackling like old witches.
Dylan identifies as queer, due mainly to his inability at present to put his finger on who he is and who he likes. He hasn’t come out to anyone, although he suspects that his sister knows. He doesn’t think his sister would have a problem with it, but he doesn’t believe he has the bravery in him to find out.
Powers/abilities: Dylan is human and currently unaware of any supernatural element in Siren Cove. He’s a skeptic and needs hard evidence before believing in such things.

Dylan, Ciara and Aaron live in a modest (for Siren Cove) home.

This is the living room. Dylan's favourite thing in here is the floor:

Dylan's bedroom is small and tidy. He prefers to do his painting outside when he can, partly because it reduces the amount of mess indoors:

Although he has an en-suite bathroom, he prefers to use the main bathroom because of the huge bathtub:
